Make complex products easier to understand, compare and sell

A financial product is a set of conditions with a version history, and every difficult conversation is about the conditions.

Why this matters in a product catalog

The catalog entry is the smallest part of the product. A savings account is a rate, a tier structure, a fee schedule, an eligibility rule, a set of exclusions, a disclosure requirement and a history of variants that customers still hold.

Multiply that across a catalog, a meaningful share of which is closed to new business and very much open to questions from the customers who bought it years ago. Then add the change cycle: rates move, terms are revised, promotions start and expire, regulation adds a requirement, and each change creates another version that has to remain answerable.

Distribution multiplies it again. Branch staff, the contact center, the app, the public site, brokers, comparison channels and now AI assistants all need the same product truth expressed differently. Each of those is often maintained by a different team from a different source, which is how a customer comes to be quoted different figures in one afternoon.

The result is a portfolio nobody can hold in their head and a workforce that copes by narrowing to what they are sure about. Advice quality varies by who is in front of the customer, and the products with the most complex conditions, usually the most valuable ones, are the least confidently sold.

  • The challenge:

    Catalog scale

A catalog of products and variants, many still held by customers long after they were withdrawn.

    With ClearMash Brain:

    Confident handling of legacy products

Withdrawn variants remain fully answerable for the customers who hold them.

  • The challenge:

    Conditions and exclusions

The commercially important detail sits in the qualifications, not in the headline.

    With ClearMash Brain:

    Better customer guidance

Conditions are explained while the customer is still choosing.

  • The challenge:

    Frequent change

Rates, terms, promotions and requirements move on their own cycles and rarely together.

    With ClearMash Brain:

    Fewer corrections

Every channel quotes the term in force today, so fewer expectations need putting right.

  • The challenge:

    Eligibility rules

Who qualifies depends on circumstances that are checked late, if at all.

    With ClearMash Brain:

    Faster product selection

The right option is identified in the conversation instead of after a referral.

  • The challenge:

    Disclosure obligations

What must be said, in what form, at what point, varies by product and market.

    With ClearMash Brain:

    Stronger compliance alignment

Suitability and disclosure are part of the answer rather than a separate control.

  • The challenge:

    Comparison difficulty

Products are hard to compare when the differences live in different documents.

    With ClearMash Brain:

    Side-by-side answers

Products are set side by side on the conditions that differ, at the moment of advice.

The product system holds parameters. The organization needs meaning.

What: what this product is, what it includes and excludes, what it costs under these conditions, who qualifies, which version applies to an existing holding, and what has to be disclosed. How: how to establish suitability, how to compare against the alternative, how to explain the condition that will otherwise surface as a complaint, and how to document the recommendation.

Core banking and policy administration systems hold the parameters accurately. The explanation, the comparison logic, the advice guidance and the plain-language version a customer can act on get rebuilt, separately, in every channel.

That is why product knowledge fragments even where the data is excellent: the facts are consistent, and the meaning is what varies.

One governed product truth, expressed for every channel

Conditions, eligibility, versions and disclosure travel with the product instead of living beside it.

An employee or an AI agent can establish what a customer holds, what it entitles them to under the version that governs their agreement, and what alternatives genuinely apply to their circumstances, without assembling that from several systems and a colleague.

Comparison becomes possible in the conversation rather than after it, because the differences that matter to a customer are held as knowledge rather than inferred from product sheets.

When a rate or term changes, the change reaches the branch, the contact center, the site, the app and any AI assistant together, with the previous version retained for the customers it still governs.

  • Withdrawn products stay answerable

What a customer bought years ago can be explained correctly today.

  • Eligibility before the recommendation

Suitability is established as part of the answer rather than discovered during underwriting.

  • Disclosure attached to the product

What must be said travels with what is being offered.

  • Consistent figures across channels

The app, the branch and the assistant quote the same terms on the same day.

What a product conversation turns on

An advisor is working out what this product means for this customer. These are what decide what can be recommended, and how it has to be recorded.

  • WHATWhat this product includes, and what is excluded.
  • WHICHWhich version governs the customer’s existing holding.
  • WHOWho is eligible, and what evidence is required.
  • WHENWhen this rate, term or promotion changes.
  • WHYWhy it suits this customer’s circumstances.
  • HOWHow to compare, disclose and document it correctly.

Approved on the 12th. Effective on the 1st. Every channel in between.

One rate is quoted, everywhere, on the right day.

What it looks like when a rate changes

A rate change is approved on the 12th, effective on the 1st. Between those dates, staff are quoting the current rate, the site is showing the current rate, and a subset of customers are being onboarded onto agreements that will straddle the change.

The failure mode is familiar: one channel updates early, another updates late, and the difference reaches a customer. With one governed product truth, every channel changes on the effective date and the previous terms remain available for the agreements they still govern.

Where a Brain sits between the product master and the customer

Core systems hold the parameters accurately. Every channel then rebuilds the explanation from scratch.

The Brain sits on top of the product master. The parameters stay where the system of record holds them, and what the Brain reads behind a product is everything a product turns into once a customer is involved: the terms and the disclosure that travel with the parameters, what this customer already holds, and the market requirement that changes what has to be said.

Where the product gets explained is the reason a customer stops being quoted different figures in one afternoon. Branch, phone, app and assistant all read one governed position, and the advice record keeps the reasoning that supported the recommendation.

What the Brain reads behind a product

  • Core product administration The rate, the tier and the fee schedule, as the system of record has them.
  • Terms, conditions and disclosure What the product excludes, what must be said, and in what form.
  • CRM and customer holdings What this customer already holds, and which version governs it.
  • Regulatory and market rules What must be disclosed, to whom, and where the market rules differ.
  • Published pages and campaigns What has already been promised in public, so the branch agrees with it.

Additional measures

And the measures a product and channel team already keeps:

  • Time to a correct product recommendation
  • referral rate to product specialists
  • complaints attributable to misunderstood conditions
  • consistency of quotes across channels
  • time from product change to full channel coverage

Consistency across channels is the one that moves first.

Your product master stays

Product parameters live there, as they do today.

What the Brain adds is everything a customer conversation needs beyond the parameters: the plain-language explanation, the comparison, the suitability guidance, the disclosure obligation, the reasoning behind a recommendation and the exceptions. Those are the parts each channel currently rebuilds from scratch.

A deployment usually starts with the product family that raises the most questions, makes its conditions, versions and eligibility usable by every channel, and then extends. The product master keeps doing what it does well throughout.

Why ClearMash for products

ClearMash holds the organization’s understanding of what a product means for a particular customer, the part every channel otherwise improvises.

It manages that understanding, keeps versions and conditions attached to it, and serves it to staff, customers and AI channels from one place.

Discipline a product committee will recognize

Named ownership, approval before publication and a full version trail: the same control your product governance already demands, applied to meaning as well as parameters. Accounts and transactions remain in core systems. Certifications and security documentation are on the Security page.
